The cloth you read on. Does it have to be at least three feet wide? Or can it be a little smaller? I got a beautiful one from my grandmother, but its slightly smaller than I had hoped. Also, should I cleanse it somehow? or can I work with it as it is? If I need to cleanse it, how would I go about that? Thank you!

It can be smaller, if you are comfortable with the amount of working space you have. There is no special meaning to the cloth being three feet.
You could get a bigger cloth and lay it under the smaller one if you find you need more room. You could even sew the smaller cloth onto the bigger one.
Now, you should cleanse the cloth if it will be touching the cards BEFORE your reading. If it isn't and you are just laying the cards down onto the cloth as you draw them, you can get away with not cleansing it.
If you are going to wrap the cards with the cloth, wrap them up and cleanse the cards as you normally would, your energy will take care of that cloth too.
You can sit the cloth on a window sill for a full moon phase to really cleanse it well, if you think there is a need for a total energy remake. You can also place a cleansed stone with the cloth that will help reassign energy to the cloth. If the cloth is to be a general tool, use clear quartz.

Yeah, sea salt is good too. I often find it a bit messy though. I cleanse some stones in salt water though.

Ashley,
How do you cleanse it with salt? Do you poor salt over it? I've never thought to use salt other than in salt water.
